Do you depend on free search engine traffic for your livelihood?
I admit it. I spend an inordinate amount of time thinking about Search Engine Marketing (SEM), Search Engine Optimization (SEO), keyword density, keyword relevance, KEI, incoming links and link text, and where my web site and web pages rank in the Search Engine Results Pages (SERP) for my targeted keyword phrases.

Quit your job, pack up and restart your life online. Create a website selling your talent and latest invention. To jumpstart the motor, spend a few hundred dollars on an online marketing course teaching you how to turn your business from a home based venture into a million dollar enterprise in half a year. But after one year in business you are nowhere close to being the online marketing guru that your course promised, you are tipping the scales on the wrong side of bankruptcy and it finally dawns on you that it was never meant to be this way. You were meant to have had a fledging business by now, customers spanning the globe and a virtually unstoppable money-making machine. Sounds familiar?

Marketing should be treated like a science. If you are serious about making money on the Internet, it is absolutely crucial that you spend some time testing your results and refining your approach.
Let me drive this point home. Say for example you have a website that gives you a visit to sale ratio of about 200 to 1. Not really bad as far as web sites go. Most do far worse.

Summer is finally here, and while for many, summer implies barbeques, school-break, vacations and trips to the beach; for most Internet businesses, summer implies slower traffic.

Another powerful reason for making the switch from using the unlimited autoresponders that come free with your web hosting account to paying a monthly fee for an autoresponder service is tracking capability.
The autoresponders that come with your web host don’t have built-in tracking capabilities. Tracking customer response with a paid autoresponder service can lead to more effective advertising campaigns.
Is anyone reading your newsletter? How many visits are you getting to your websites from your newsletter and autoresponders? Without the tracking capabilities of an autoresponder service, you’ll never know.

Free can set you free…
The powerful word “FREE” is an essential key to gaining subscribers to your optin list, to your pre-launch membership site, and to gain popularity with your customers and keep them coming back for more information. Heck, many well known marketers have started their fortunes by giving away free tools, products and memberships.
This has a viral effect that resonates throughout the internet and can do two things…
1.) You can brand your name
2.) You can gain popularity

What the heck am I talking about?
Let me tell you that this will be one of my ‘Chilli Pepper’ articles, it’s HOT and very controversial.
If you’ve spent anything more than 5 minutes in the Internet Marketing world, you will most probably come across something called ‘Resale Rights’ / or often called Reprint Rights.
This is where the creator / owner of the product, which could be an ebook, course, script or software, gives you permission to sell the product -and typically to keep all the proceeds - i.e. 100% profit to you.

The use of tracking links in the following scenario puts you in complete control when someone else makes a change that affects your webpages, your links on other peoples’ sites, or your links in ebooks or ecourses already in circulation. Additionally, the potential time savings in editing the pages that are within your control can add up to hours and hours saved for you.

RSS is the interactive communication tool being popularized by bloggers. It is also the newest method for ezine publishers to deliver their content to the web.
RSS puts control back where it belongs. Publishers have control over their content, and subscribers have control over what they read.
This system requires that subscribers manually subscribe to the feeds they choose to read. One simply cannot just enter an email address and hit a subscribe button, attached to an autoresponder.

There are some extremely irritating things that have become an accepted part of life for virtually all webmasters and as the website administrator of the Wandle industrial museum, I promise you these things evan happen to the small local website’s.
One such constant annoyance is the stream of illogical emails demanding links.
Email is an interesting medium, part of the “problem” is that computer’s don’t smell; ie the knowledge gained from or created with a computer has no texture, or context. It’s there and then it’s gone, email disappears then seemingly arrives instantly and it is this that makes it emotionally cheap at the source.
