Unfortunately, this formerly reliable method of getting listed in Yahoo seems to be dead. I have used it a few times over the last month to try to get some new pages listed in Yahoo and there has been no action at all.
Previously, you could easily slip through the back door in Yahoo by setting up a blog on blogger.com or another blogger website. Then set up a MyYahoo page and subscribe to your own blog on that page. It was simple and fast. Then all you had to do to get a page listed was to blog that webpage with a link to it and presto - you were listed.

So you finally created the website that your business or brand needs to market globally, but nobody is clicking on your site and the phone never rings. It seems that you have immediately become fodder for those other marketers to sell you their manuals about web marketing, but you might as well have spent your website development money on a gym membership.

Just like the infamous thank you page that a buyer is forwarded to before an actual purchase made popular by none other than Mike Filsaime, the same goes for upselling. What is upselling?
Upselling is the technique used to bolster sales after the initial purchase. The buyer is forwarded to another page before completion of the sale where they are introduced to similar products for less than the original purchase…

Viral marketing is probably the number one method for generating traffic and sales - IF it is set up properly.
Take the case of a viral ebook - which means a book that can be passed from one person to another bringing benefits (profits) for each party in turn.
How is this achieved?
The basic concept is that the book contains links to affiliate products. When a reader of the book makes a purchase from a link then the affiliate receives the commission.

I’ve been operating two small retail Websites for several years with modest success. Recently, I decided to branch out into a different area of e-commerce. I set up five different Websites at once and I wanted to find a way to obtain a lot of links to my Websites in a hurry. I wasn’t interested in paying for promotion, and I don’t care for the tedious process of exchanging links. On a lark, I typed the phrase "unusual Website promotion techniques" into Google, just to see what sort of search results came up.

Smarter Way Of Link Building?
by: Martin Burrow
Ever since search engines were developed there’s been a long-waged war between the search engines and the search engine optimizers (SEOs) to get better rankings for their website.
The SEOs are always looking for ways of beating the search engines at their own game, and when they do, the search engines tend to fight back, and usually with a vengeance. The latest Google update (named Jagger) did exactly this, and many high-ranking websites were dropped to the depths of the results.
It’s no secret that the search engines place a huge emphasis on the number and quality of links pointing to a particular website in order to establish it’s position in the results. For the past couple of years the popular way of increasing this number of links has been through link exchanges programs, or reciprocal linking as it’s also known. But now it seems the search engines (in particular, Google) have begun to fight back and devalue these kinds of reciprocal links in what’s widely thought to be an effort to eradicate spam and poor quality sites from it’s results. So, now that reciprocal linking has had its day, it’s time for a new and improved system to take its place.
A new website called ContentRelay (www.contentrelay.com) has currently got the SEO community in a bit of a buzz.
The website enables Webmasters to create links to their website by providing other Webmasters with content to publish on their website. Now this might sound like a strange concept, but there is a sound theory behind it.
The theory goes that if you provide another (similarly-themed) website with content to publish, and include a link to your own website from within the content, then in effect you’ve created a high-powered, one-way link to your website - which is exactly what the search engines crave. So what’s in it for the Webmaster who publish the other persons content? Well, they get more good-quality, unique content for their website - another key ingredient for achieving top search engine rankings. So both parties will gain something from this exchange.
Whether or not this new method of link building will become popular remains to be seen, new concepts always take a while for people to catch on. But there is solid theory behind it, and it is certainly more ’search-engine-friendly’ than the earlier method of reciprocal linking, so there’s no reason why it shouldn’t.

Everyone wants to know the big secret to driving traffic to their website. Every day I see an article or an ad talking about driving people to your website. Driving traffic to a website has become the "holy grail" on the internet. People are realizing that ‘if you build it, they won’t come… unless you give them a reason’. Website traffic just doesn’t happen by itself. Your website is just one of many millions on the web and people rarely just stumble upon your site by accident.
