BigDaddy of a Storm
by: Jim Trivolette
What has been the most talked about, Hugely known, company? Almost every one by now has heard something or other about this company. They have plans for many innovations for the internet. They currently making deals with video, have a chat program and let you take an in depth look at the planet Earth. With designs for a cheap net capable PC this company has dug its roots firmly into place. The funny thing is, no one knows the company for all these feats. What they are known for are organic search engine results. The company that is being talked about yet again is (*sigh*) Google.
True that Google wants to rule the internet, who wouldn’t want to with the power and support they seem to have. To keep them in this point of power they must stay the best search engine query system and stay on top of MSN and Yahoo. To lose to one of these Search Engine companies would show weakness and could hurt their efforts in all the other plans they already have in effect.
To try to stay on top of the game Google must continually rewrite the algorithms that are used to check different things against websites to see where they should be placed in the rankings. As Yahoo, and Msn fight Google for better relevancy in their listings, Google has to make changes of its own to stay on top of the game. The last major update by Google was the infamous “Jagger” update. This update upset thousands of people around the world. I got a good handle on it and all clients were doing good “post Jagger”.
That’s when you think the storm is over and really you are just standing in the calm, in other words the eye of the storm. One side hit you now you are in the calm but the other side of the storm is going to hit you eventually.
The other side of this storm is “BigDaddy”. “BigDaddy” is Google’s newest update to better their services. This update is claimed not to be a fix to the algorithms but a new data center infrastructure, a feat much bigger and comprehensive than an algorithm change. It has already started and as I write this they are continuing to spread to more and more data centers. If you go to Google.com and search the term “sf giants” if you get the listing giants.mlb.com in the #1 spot then chance’s are you are seeing a BigDaddy server. This was suppose to roll out in a mater of months as Matt Cutts from Google said they would roll out a new big daddy data center approximately Every ten days or so. Right now it looks as though it is faster then expected as many data centers will show as BigDaddy using the above test, but later it can be gone.
Even though they claim this has nothing to do with changing the algorithms, many people have already started the boohoo, whiney, my sites not found or they are now only indexing a small percentage of my site. There is rumored talk that a huge netquake may follow with rankings going crazy. We all hope that one passes by as quietly as possible. There is also talk that right now you can do a search and within minutes do the same search and get different results for every time you refresh the SERPS. What does this mean exactly?
Rob Sullivan, head organic search strategist at search marketing firm Enquiro, “If an algorithm update is like putting new tires on a car or installing a new stereo system, this BigDaddy is like putting in a whole new motor. They’re totally revamping how Google works and resolving some long-standing issues with getting sites indexed properly.”
“This will lay the groundwork for more advanced algorithms, larger databases, and being able to index different types of content more effectively,” he says. For example, Google has also begun using a search crawler built on a Mozilla browser. The new search bot is more flexible, seems faster and can read non-text content more readily; that should mean that in time, it will be able to read links within images and even within Flash video, matter that gets ignored by bots that can’t speak Javascript. “As Web technology develops and we get richer and more interactive Web sites, [the search engines] can’t just stick with just indexing hyperlinks and text,” Sullivan says. “They’re going to have to do everything.” (quotes from an article done by Brian Quinton)
No matter the outcome on this newest act of salvation by Google, I feel we may all feel the rumbling under the net and some of us will slip through the holes, but those of us that study and use only the cleanest white hat methods and search engine optimization practices will, after the smoldering debris clear the playing zone, those of us left on top of the mountain will be showing others how it was done. Our team is no longer afraid of Google updates as we know we will grow and evolve with them and as long as we stay with good practices we haven’t seen anything but good results from Google with the exception of a few sites slipping under but that is to be expected and I fully believe that is nothing to worry about either. They will come back if you did your search engine optimization correctly and not like that of some fancy car manufactures. Brave the storm that is brewing wisely now before it totally hits because this is the perfect time to make the changes you need done to make your site safe and with the changes and new content you could be surprised what will happen to these sites. Until I learn more about this BigDaddy beast we shall just have to ride it out and pray we all don’t get thrown off. -JMT

After Google latest update nicknamed “Florida”, many webmasters discovered that their traffic plummeted.
What happened?
More importantly what can you do about it?
And what will Google do next?
What happened was that Google made an algorithm change on how they rate web pages.
Every time you make a search, Google tries to show the most relevant web pages that match your search term. By being able to give the most relevant results for queries, they have become the most used search engine in the world.

Online search giant, Google, often tests the waters for new services by rolling out a “beta” (first) version of an idea to gauge public reaction.
By employing this strategy, it’s easy to imagine a building full of creative, “mad scientist” types cooking up the latest and greatest online gizmos.
In fact, you can take a peek at what’s cooking at Google by logging on to http://labs.google.com.

Your Own Articles are More Than Content!
by: Anthony Jewell
If you are someone like me that writes articles on a daily basis and includes them on your website for your visitors to read then you might be missing out on something big. Articles are not only a great free resource to offer your visitors but they are a big resource tool that you may not be using to its full potential. There are hundreds and hundreds of site out there as well as thousands of ezines that would love to offer your articles free to their visitors. Now you may be wondering how this will affect you or actually be a resource tool for your website? Well you’ve got alot to learn, so lets get started.
Your articles can be placed on hundreds of sites around the net to give hundreds of thousands of visitors free access to information on all sorts of subjects. How this translates to you is that when someone reads your article they will start to get interest not only in you but also they will want to find out more about what you offer. So now you think “how do they find out more?”. Simple. They will visit your website and as simple as it was to write your article you have now just received a new visitor to your website. A future possible client that will come back to your website not only to view your articles but possibly also to purchase your products. Though the great thing is that it doesn’t just stop at one visitors. A single article can bring hundreds or thousands of visitors in its life span online. What a great way to get new visitors to your website at no cost and it is something that you already do every day!
Now if you don’t already write articles then you should. They are very easy and if you don’t know what to write about then just take a look around some sites and get inspired in the things you enjoy. Also it is a great idea to write about topics related to your website. Most effective articles are around 200-600 words long and contains timbits of information all throughout it. You want to write an article so it is informative but also so that it leaves the reader wanting more(this is so they will want to find out more about you).
Articles are a great viral marketing tool. The reason they are called viral is that they spread out through many sites. One article can be placed on a popular site and then the visitors from that site use it on their site(of course giving you credit for it). Then other uses for their site and before you know it that one article you placed on one site is now spread out over 50 different sites(or more). This will increase your daily visitors and create an interest in your website.

Google uses PageRank to rank your pages. To maximize your rank, you must understand how to work with it.
Page rank is defined as follows:
We assume page A has pages T1…Tn which point to it (i.e., are citations). The parameter d is a damping factor which can be set between 0 and 1. We usually set d to 0.85. There are more details about d in the next section. Also C(A) is defined as the number of links going out of page A. The PageRank of a page A is given as follows:

Search Engine Keywords Selection
by: Zaak O’Conan
Search engines are the vehicles that drive potential customers to your websites. But in order for visitors to reach their destination - your website - you need to provide them with specific and effective signs that will direct them right to your site. You do this by creating carefully chosen keywords.
Think of the right keywords as the Open Sesame! of the Internet. Find the exactly right words or phrases, and presto! hoards of traffic will be pulling up to your front door. But if your keywords are too general or too over-used, the possibility of visitors actually making it all the way to your site - or of seeing any real profits from the visitors that do arrive - decreases dramatically.
Your keywords serve as the foundation of your marketing strategy. If they are not chosen with great precision, no matter how aggressive your marketing campaign may be, the right people may never get the chance to find out about it. So your first step in plotting your strategy is to gather and evaluate keywords and phrases.
You probably think you already know EXACTLY the right words for your search phrases. Unfortunately, if you haven’t followed certain specific steps, you are probably WRONG. It’s hard to be objective when you are right in the center of your business network, which is the reason that you may not be able to choose the most efficient keywords from the inside. You need to be able to think like your customers. And since you are a business owner and not the consumer, your best bet is to go directly to the source.
Instead of plunging in and scribbling down a list of potential search words and phrases yourself, ask for words from as many potential customers as you can. You will most likely find out that your understanding of your business and your customers’ understanding is significantly different.
The consumer is an invaluable resource. You will find the words you accumulate from them are words and phrases you probably never would have considered from deep inside the trenches of your business.
Only after you have gathered as many words and phrases from outside resources should you add your own keyword to the list. Once you have this list in hand, you are ready for the next step: evaluation.
The aim of evaluation is to narrow down your list to a small number of words and phrases that will direct the highest number of quality visitors to your website. By “quality visitors” I mean those consumers who are most likely to make a purchase rather than just cruise around your site and take off for greener pastures. In evaluating the effectiveness of keywords, bear in mind three elements: popularity, specificity, and motivation.
Popularity is the easiest to evaluate because it is an objective quality. The more popular your keyword is, the more likely the chances are that it will be typed into a search engine which will then bring up your URL.
You can now purchase software that will rate the popularity of keywords and phrases by giving words a number rating based on real search engine activity. Software such as WordTracker will even suggest variations of your words and phrases. The higher the number this software assigns to a given keyword, the more traffic you can logically expect to be directed to your site. The only fallacy with this concept is the more popular the keyword is, the greater the search engine position you will need to obtain. If you are down at the bottom of the search results, the consumer will probably never scroll down to find you.
Popularity isn’t enough to declare a keyword a good choice. You must move on to the next criteria, which is specificity. The more specific your keyword is, the greater the likelihood that the consumer who is ready to purchase your goods or services will find you.
Let’s look at a hypothetical example. Imagine that you have obtained popularity rankings for the keyword “automobile companies.” However, you company specializes in bodywork only. The keyword “automobile body shops” would rank lower on the popularity scale than “automobile companies,” but it would nevertheless serve you much better. Instead of getting a slew of people interested in everything from buying a car to changing their oil filters, you will get only those consumers with trashed front ends or crumpled fenders being directed to your site. In other words, consumers ready to buy your services are the ones who will immediately find you. Not only that, but the greater the specificity of your keyword is, the less competition you will face.
The third factor is consumer motivation. Once again, this requires putting yourself inside the mind of the customer rather than the seller to figure out what motivation prompts a person looking for a service or product to type in a particular word or phrase. Let’s look at another example, such as a consumer who is searching for a job as an IT manager in a new city. If you have to choose between “Seattle job listings” and “Seattle IT recruiters” which do you think will benefit the consumer more? If you were looking for this type of specific job, which keyword would you type in? The second one, of course! Using the second keyword targets people who have decided on their career, have the necessary experience, and are ready to enlist you as their recruiter, rather than someone just out of school who is casually trying to figure out what to do with his or her life in between beer parties. You want to find people who are ready to act or make a purchase, and this requires subtle tinkering of your keywords until your find the most specific and directly targeted phrases to bring the most motivated traffic to you site.
Once you have chosen your keywords, your work is not done. You must continually evaluate performance across a variety of search engines, bearing in mind that times and trends change, as does popular lingo. You cannot rely on your log traffic analysis alone because it will not tell you how many of your visitors actually made a purchase.
Luckily, some new tools have been invented to help you judge the effectiveness of your keywords in individual search engines. There is now software available that analyzes consumer behavior in relation to consumer traffic. This allows you to discern which keywords are bringing you the most valuable customers.
This is an essential concept: numbers alone do not make a good keyword; profits per visitor do. You need to find keywords that direct consumers to your site who actually buy your product, fill out your forms, or download your product. This is the most important factor in evaluating the efficacy of a keyword or phrase, and should be the sword you wield when discarding and replacing ineffective or inefficient keywords with keywords that bring in better profits.
Ongoing analysis of tested keywords is the formula for search engine success. This may sound like a lot of work - and it is! But the amount of informed effort you put into your keyword campaign is what will ultimately generate your business’ rewards.

Internet Marketing: 10 Ingenious Secret Strategies To Explode Your Sales.
by: I-key Benney, CEO
Internet marketing on the internet is getting harder and harder daily.
It is becoming like a rocket science.
You make so much efforts only to generate little or no sales.
Well, my friend, allow me to reveal to you a few ingenious strategies that have helped me pump my sales:
1. Think of ways to get your site or business on the the news. You could sponsor a fundraiser, break a world record, hold a major event, etc.
2. Hold a contest on your web site. Give other web sites the option of offering it to their visitors. This’ll multiply your advertising all over the internet.
3. Tell your potential customers that your ordering system is highly secure. Also, reassure them that you take every effort to protect them.
4. Carry business cards with you wherever you go. Have your web address printed on them. You can hand them out to anyone you meet.
5. Contact national radio stations to ask them if they are looking for guest speakers. Tell them your area of expertise; maybe they’ll book you for a show.
6. Join clubs related to your area of business. You could trade leads with other businesses. Learn new ways to run your business and sell your products.
7. Think of a domain name for your web site that’s easy to remember. If you can’t find a good one left, use your actual birth name.
8. Position your web site at the top of pay-per-click search engines. You will only pay your set amount for each clickthrough you get to your web site.
9. Allow your visitors or customers to increase your traffic or sales. Ask them how you can improve your business, web site or product.
10. Team-up with other e-zines that have the same target audience. Combine subscriber bases and then publish one e-zine together to increase subscribers.
May these internet marketing secrets help you to make a lot of money.
Warmly,
I-key Benney, CEO
