All This Talk About Link Building

All This Talk About Link Building

 by: David Touri

These days, trying to improve your website search engine ranking can be a long and frustrating nightmare. Being a search engine optimisation specialist and having established my own business, many clients seem to be confused about the long process of how to build website presence in the search engines. Having built my own site from scratch and having struggled to get the desired ranks, one thing is for sure, it does take time.

Many seem to believe that link building will get you the desired ranks in no time. That is quiet wrong. Whilst there is a lot of talk about link building, many seem to forget the basics of website optimisation (content, coding and tags). Search engines like Yahoo! place strong emphasis on these basics whilst Google may favor factors outside our control such as link popularity. So how do we satisfy all search engines?

Notes are as follows:

1. Focus on the things that can be done at your end. This includes:

- Writing efficient code with as much scripting placed into external files.

- Select targeted keywords that do not have a large number or competing pages so that you have more chance to win position for them.

- Write keyword rich content.

- Have Title and Meta tags that are keyword rich and reflect what is written for a page.

2. Directory submissions are a key factor. Some may charge a price for inclusion whilst others may not. It is highly recommended that directory submissions are made simply because a human editor will look at your site, which in turn gives you more points with the search engines.

3. One of the most difficult points to fulfill is link building. If you have a site that offers useful information and services, in time it will generate the required links. There are other ways to speed the process such as writing articles and posting them on certain websites. However, the key factor to link building is not to obtain irrelevant links. This will simply be regarded as spamming and could result in negative consequences.

4. Lastly, the most important point, PATIENCE.

To recap, provided you follow the basic steps and have the patience, your site will climb up the ranks steadily. Link building will help improve your ranks but be careful because it can also harm your visibility if used in the wrong way i.e. obtaining too many links from non-related websites.

The Purpose of PageRank?

I am sure the first thought provoking question that popped into your head would be: what exactly is PageRank? Well PageRank can be summed up as how vital Google considers a particular webpage. Pagerank is a value from 0-10, zero being the least significant and ten of which few obtain being the most note-worthy. PageRank is often abbreviated as PR and Google determines this PR bye evaluating how many websites link to yours, even though many of these links are missed.

Capturing Leads on Traffic Exchanges

There are 3 basic components to capturing leads on free traffic exchanges that need to be understood. Lead capture pages , Autoresponder follow up systems , and Ad tracking URLs .

The lead capture page can be hosted anywhere but it needs to have at least one thing on it to be effective… a way to capture a person’s email address.

Google Onsite Advertiser - Let The Bidding Wars Begin!

Google Onsite Advertiser - Let The Bidding Wars Begin!

 by: Martin Lemieux

Google Adsense has just become more powerful overnight. As if it wasn’t enough that Google now gives you $100 for every successful referral to their Adsense program but, advertisers can now battle for placements within your own websites as well.

That’s right, with every Adsense box you add to your site, you can now sign up for “Onsite Advertiser” which ads a button to all your Adsense boxes on your site that states:

“Advertise On This Site”… This new link takes advertisers to a unique landing page (which will include your logo if you upload one) which allows advertisers to advertise specifically within your own Adsense boxes located on your site.

For Some, This Could Be Very Powerful!

Let me break it down for you if you still don’t understand the implication of this. If someone wants to target your site through their Adwords program, they can now have a bidding war with other advertisers! Your Adsense account that would typically make anywhere around $100.00 a month could potential make $1,000.00 a month! If you get the right advertiser that is willing to pay to have their ads displayed on your site, the sky is the limit. If you get multiple advertisers that want to display their Adwords on your site, your site could turn into a gold mine!

For Some Website Owners, This Could Be Devastating!

The harsh reality of this newly found fortune through your Adsense program could mean the demise of your website advertising packages that aren’t part of Google. If you run advertising on your site, your sales could potential drop from the sheer amount of times visitors will be subject to Google’s Onsite Advertiser program.

At least the choice is yours whether or not to have Google Onsite Advertiser installed within your Adsense boxes. There’s no cost to you, all you have to do is log into your Adsense account. Under “My Account” at the top, go to the bottom of the page and fill in your Google Onsite Advertiser profile. That’s it, Google does the rest.

I am curious to see the results of this new program and would definitely like to here some success stories come out of this program.

What Does This Mean For Advertisers???

Finally, you have all the control of your Adwords campaign. You can now not only target specific websites to advertise in, you can physically bid specifically for one specific website whenever you want.

This also means that PPC just got more homework. Not that you already have enough research, bidding, key word analyzing to do, you now have to study every website you visit for potential advertising.

Another Implication No One Might Think About!!!

SEO Companies are probably loving this new feature. Google has now given SEO companies a new service to offer their clients and visitors. Internet marketing companies can now increase the amount of work they do for their PPC client’s campaigns!

In Conclusion:

There are ups and downs of this new Onsite Advertiser program anyway you look at it. For me though, I would love nothing more than to see advertisers fight for ad placements on my websites.

The Business Case for SEO

It’s interesting how potential clients have preconceived notions about which aspects of search engine marketing have the most value. In fact, they tend to fall into two camps that are 180° apart. The first camp believes completely in the value of pay-per-click marketing (PPC). It’s easy to understand why. PPC provides immediate and measurable benefits. The ROI of PPC marketing is obvious. This group doesn’t understand why it’s necessary "to bother" doing SEO. The second camp believes the only way to go is SEO. Clicks are free and the branding benefits of high rankings have been well documented.

A Look at Viral E-books

A Look at Viral E-books

 by: Glenn Curry

If you’re like me, when you first heard the term ‘viral

e-book’ you might have thought it was a book with

information on virus protection. Or maybe you thought it was

a way a hacker could infect your computer? Well, I am glad

to say that is not the case. What is true is that viral

marketing is fast becoming a great way to generate sales and

traffic for your business. If you are a home based business

and know little about internet marketing, this is an easy

way to make use of it without really understanding it. You

don’t need to know everything about electricity to light up

a dark room- you simply need to know how to turn on the

light switch.

A viral e-book is a book that can be passed from one person

to another (thus the term viral) to bring profits for each

party at every turn. An e-book that contains links to

affiliate products will have a viral effect. When the reader

follows a link and purchases the product being displayed

there, the affiliate gets a commission for the sale.

If the creator of the e-book allows people to sell or give

away the same e-book on their website, and those people

replace the links with some of their own links (called

re-branding), then the book gets more and more widely

distributed. That means more and more people in addition

to the original e-book provider start to make money on the

Internet.

The book should be able to hold it’s own as far as being an

informative piece, with links that are added sparingly, as a

way for the reader to get more information about the book

subject or one that is related. Another option is a link to

a product. As long as the e-book isn’t infested with links,

the viral e-book is a good way to increase traffic and sales.

Link Building - The Waiting Game

Link building is a waiting game. Many clients have asked me why they do not see changes in traffic or ranking before a month goes by. It takes time for the search engine robots to find those new links and index the pages they are linked to.

Marketing and Distributing Your Products

Marketing and Distributing Your Products

 by: Tina Valiedi

Increase Success With A Marketing And Distribution Plan

When considering a strong business plan, one of the first areas would be to consider is a firm plan of marketing and distribution. Proper marketing and distribution of your product line can be the lifeblood of your success. The two also have to work in unison in order for your company’s product line or lines to move in a smooth fashion. Many upstart companies focus too much attention on their investment and what they hope they will see a return. That marketing and distribution doesn’t get the foremost attention that it needs to make that return happen. That is one of the sole reasons the majority of startup businesses fail to make it past the five-year mark.

Start your marketing and distribution plan with these three questions: Who will use what you offer? Is there a demand for what you offer? Who are competitors and how do they market? These question will lead you to your target market and will give you a clue on how to reach them.

Now that you know your market, let’s look at two different methods to reach them. Offline marketing referring to more traditional methods and online marketing using the internet. Traditional marketing can include radio, TV, newspapers, flyer just to name a few. Online marketing usually begins with a website and using pay-per-click advertising to place high in search engine results. Most marketing plans use a combination of both methods. A great way to motive a potential customer to buy your product is to offer a first time special price or give a quantity discount.

The customer makes a purchase… how do you get it into their hands? Your product is the determining factor on how you want to distribute it. You can do it yourself or hire somebody. Either way you’ll many different methods. This is where taking some time and doing your homework will pay off handsomely. Doing it yourself keeps a bigger profit in your pocket. But you can only take do so much by yourself. Outsourcing your distribution means give a percentage of the sale to the broker, salesperson, reseller or any other middleman you use. However you can reach and maintain a larger customer base which equals more sales. Adding more to your bottom line.

Another part of your marketing and distribution plan should include how to handle growth. How do you expand your product line? How to keep up with demands of a growing customer base? Ask your self what if… and then create an action plan you can easily implement in times of growth and crises. When you include the what if in your marketing and distribution plan, you greatly increase your business success.
